This 6-week progressive course is designed for dancers who want to deepen their understanding of Cuban Salsa (Casino), Timba, and their Afro-Cuban roots. Led by Cuban Masters Damarys Farres and Leo Henriquez, the course focuses on authentic body movement, musicality, and cultural expression — not just steps. Time & Location Mondays | 12 January – 23 February 2026 🕢 7:30pm – 9:30pm 📅 Break week: Monday 2 February 2026 Vida Active 74 Blatchington Road Hove BN3 3YH Brighton & Hove, UK Each session is 2 hours: • Hour 1: Afro-Cuban & Rumba technique, body awareness, grounding, isolations, posture, and styling for men and women. • Hour 2: Applying Afro and Rumba movement into Casino and Timba partnerwork, focusing on clean lead & follow, musical interpretation, and social dancing flow. Cuban Salsa (Casino) is a circular partner dance born in Cuba, playful, rhythmic, and deeply connected to Afro-Cuban music. Timba is its modern evolution — dynamic, expressive, and rhythmically rich — blending Salsa, Rumba, Afro-Cuban folklore, and musical breaks. Understanding Afro-Cuban movement is essential to dancing both styles authentically. This course is for Improvers, Intermediate and Advanced dancers only and is not suitable for beginners.
