Our Ourdoor Summer Events

Every summer, The Cuban School of Arts opens the season with a series of Cuban dance, music, and cultural events in outdoor spaces, including our main base at Finsbury Park, London, and selected seaside locations such as Brighton. These events are not daily occurrences — they are carefully curated gatherings designed to bring people together through dance, learning, and shared cultural values.

Led by Damarys Farres– founder of the school and an established ambassador of Cuban culture in the UK – these events offer a unique opportunity to take part in something meaningful, creative, and deeply connected.

Why attend

These events are not just about dancing — they are about what dance gives you.

  • Physical & Mental Wellbeing. Movement, music and the outdoors are powerful tools for reducing stress and improving health.

  • Culture & Learning. Learn the roots, rhythms and styles that shape Cuban dance — taught by professionals with deep cultural knowledge.

  • Belonging & Inclusion. Meet like-minded people, share experiences, and become part of a growing cultural family that celebrates difference.

  • Accessible & Affordable. We aim to keep workshops affordable so that more people can access quality dance education in a safe, welcoming environment.

What to Expect

Our outdoor programme includes:

  • Dance workshops (2–3 hours) taught by Damarys and guest Cuban artists

  • Social time after the session, with music, occasional live percussion, and light refreshments

  • Picnic-style gathering  where participants are encouraged to bring snacks and/or drinks to share

  • Community connection rooted in respect, culture, and music

Evening outdoor classes may also run during the week in summer – contact us if you’re interested in joining or organising a session near you.
