El Son Cubano Fest is a multi-day cultural experience where international dancers, live bands, themed parties, Cuban cuisine, and diverse workshops come together. Our mission is simple: to unite people through the music, dance, and rich heritage of Cuba. As a volunteer, you are essential in breathing life into this celebration right here in London.

Health, Safety & Emergency Guidelines
Your wellbeing and that of our guest comes first:

This is a physical event—please consult your doctor if needed before participating.

Familiarise yourself with emergency exits and fire procedures at each venue.

No smoking or vaping allowed indoors Keep your belongings safe—we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.

Report any incidents to your volunteer coordinator. In case of a medical emergency, please report to the first aid coordinator immediately.
Venue Rules & Conduct

No external food, alcohol, or drinks allowed during evening parties—bags may be checked.

Respect venue staff and fellow attendees.

Encourage cleanliness and personal safety—remind guests not to leave items unattended.

Support cloakroom duties: label items clearly and keep space tidy.

Maintain a fun, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere.
Media, Consent & Feedback
By volunteering, you’re also agreeing to be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes by Cuban School of Arts. If you’d prefer not to be featured, simply let us know ahead of time. We also value your thoughts—if the videographer asks, please share a brief reflection on your experience. Don’t forget to tag us with #elsoncubanofest2026 when sharing your memories on socials!

What to Expect
Skills & Expectations

Be punctual, proactive, and professional.

Become the go-to person about anything to do with the festival to best assist the guests and artists. We expect you to be knowledgeable about the festival's schedule, room allocations, artists and activities taking place at the event.

Step in where needed – flexibility is essential.

Friendly, clear communication with both team and attendees.
-
Tidy as you go – let’s keep every space looking great.

Respect boundaries and encourage others to do the same.

Follow the Dress Code:
-
Daytime: Official Festival T-shirt (clean, ironed, presentable).
-
Evenings: Smart and in line with party themes—1950s inspired. No jeans, trainers, flip-flops, visible logos, or other festival shirts.
-
Good personal hygiene and grooming are a must—you’re part of the public-facing team!

Schedule & Responsibilities
The minimum commitment is 4 hours per day between 9:30 AM and 4:30 AM throughout the entire event. We will try to accommodate you if you would like to join workshops or classes but we ask you to be understanding and flexible. Volunteers will be encouraged to take breaks throughout the day. Check the 2025 General Programme for reference. The updated Programme will be released closer to the event.
These are some of the responsibilities expected depending on the day you join us and your availability:

Registration desk & wristband checks.
-
Class and teacher support: water, timekeeping, transitions.
-
Helping maintain clean and safe spaces (cloakroom, bathrooms, tea station).
-
Photo/video capture before class ends (if asked).
-
Supporting matinee transitions & main hall clearance.
-
Dance and mingle with attendees during social events!
-
Check bags at evening events to enforce no outside drinks or food.
-
Monitor and keep the dance floor clear of bottles or hazards.

Politely remind attendees to validate parking tickets.
-
Run occasional errands (keep receipts if asked to purchase anything).

Help keep tea and refreshment stations stocked and clean Report hygiene, behavioural, or safety issues discreetly and promptly.

Assist with merchandise & cash handling (if comfortable).
